Using watercolor, salt, acrylic paint, multiple types of modeling paste, and abstract lines & patterns, kimmie typically creates abstract maps of any location such as cities, states, countries, or trails. In this rendition, kimmie utilizes the same techniques but instead creates a reptile.
If you would like kimmie to create a custom piece for you based on your desired map location (or reptile) and color preferences, let's start the commission process today!

Abstract Reptile Painting Process
kimmie started with three blank canvases. Putting them close together she outlined a snake that would crawl across all three pieces with a head, a tale, and a body.
The background is created by layers of acrylic, watercolor, and salt to make a textured surface. Using many kinds of modeling paste and even gold leaf, kimmie created the snake body pattern. Finally, more watercolor paint was added on top of the crackling modeling paste to create a unique multi-dimensional pattern.
Original Canvas Too Big or Too Much?
Prints are available for many original pieces (if you order a custom piece kimmie will not create prints since you are the sole owner of the artwork created):
- Art Prints
- Matted Prints (thick board around artwork)
What to Expect Upon Arrival
When you receive your canvas in the mail, it will be shipped in a large flat box and padding within to avoid damage to the art. kimmie recommends taking the canvas to a local frame shop to get a custom frame made for hanging the piece.
After You Hang Your Canvas
kimmie encourages her buyers to send a picture of their newly decorated wall to be featured on her social media page. Please email images to sales@kimmiedesigns.com.
